Alice goes back to the Wonderland!
The ever so famous Alice in Wonderland is back in the form of a movie! The famous novel by Lewis Carrol which was written in 1865 has been immensely popular among children. The movie is an extension of the novel “Alice in Wonderland” and its sequel “Through the Looking Glass”, directed by Tim Burton and the screenplay is by Linda Woolverton.
The movie has made its premier on February 25 , 2010 itself in London at the Odeon Leicester Square; and has hit the golden screen on March 5, 2010. It is a 3D animation movie, which combines the technique of live action and animation.
The story in the movie succeeds from the novel story and Alice who is now a 19 year old young girl returns back to the wonderland which she had discovered 13 years back. The theme of the movie revolves around Alice who has returned back because she is the only one who can kill the evil warrior dragon named Jabberwocky, controlled by the Red Queen.
The first pure adaptation of the novel “Alice in Wonderland” was made in the year 1951 by Disney. Director Burton, clarifies that the movie is not a sequel or an adaptation to the novel and has a new story to tell to its viewers. The movie has combined the novels “Alice in Wonderland”, “Through the Looking Glass” and the poem “Jabberwocky”.
Before its release the movie had attracted a lot of attention and made news in the media. The lead role is played by Mia Wasikowska as Alice, who is the new face which Burton brings in to the big screen. The role of Red Queen is played by Helena Bonham; Johnny Depp with all its vivaciousness is the Mad Hatter; the evil Jabberwocky is Christopher Lee; the most loved White Queen is played by Anne Hathaway and the hilarious Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee are played by Matt Lucas.
The opening response has been over whelming for the movie and Burton’s portrayal of the Wonderland, with its new twists and turns has been appreciated. Burton also adds a underline moral into his movie by putting Alice in a situation wherein she need to decide whether she should do what is expected out of her or what she wishes and wants. The animation used in the movie which is a true Burton style is surely a visual treat for the audience.
