The English comedian, film maker actor and broadcaster Ricky Gervais was born on the 25th June 1961.Achieving mainstream fame with the television series "The Office" and subsequently the series Extras, co written and co directed in collaboration with Stephen Merchant. Ricky Gervais also played the lead role in "The Office" of David Brent and in "Extras" he played Andy Milliman.

Gervais has starre d in a number of Hollywood films, assuming leading roles in Ghost Town and The Invention of Lying. Throughout his career he has accumulated a number of honors and awards, 7 BAFTA Awards, 4 British Comedy awards, 3 Golden Globe award, 2 Emmys, The Peabody American prestigious award and a nomination in the Screen Actors Guild Award. He performed in 3 stands up comedy tours that sold out.

Berkshire born and raised, he had 3 siblings. His father, Jerry, emigrated from London in the 2nd World War on foreign duty when he met Eva, Gervais mother before they settled in Whitley. Gervais attended Whitley Park Schools in his infant and junior life and thereafter-secondary education was at Ashmead Comprehensive School, before he moved to University College London. He initially studied biology and after two weeks changed to philosophy and later worked as an entertainment manager at the university. He then initialized beginning of the development for "The Office" as well as the David Brent incarnation who was a character named Seedy Boss. This was the lead role played in "The Office", a hugely critically acclaimed show. His huge success allowed him to motion towards a live stand-up show called the Animals which was based on his animal kingdom fascination. The follow-up stand-up comedy show was entitled "Politics".
The BBC sitcom titled "Extras" featured Ben Stiller, Patrick Stewart, Samuel L. Jackson and Kate Winslet as cameos in the series. Ricky was also the first British Writer to write a "Simpson" episode.

During his final UCL year he formed a music band pop duo called "Seona Dancing" with a friend by the name of Bill Macrae. London records signed them on and released two single titled Bitter Heart and "More to Lose" Subsequently Gervais worked as events manager for University of London Union (ULU) until he got a London radio station XFM job as "head of speech". He was later assigned to his own show.

As he required an assistant he hired Stephen Merchant. He then undertook a training course for production in 1996-1997 he was a music advisor for the BBC drama This Life which his girlfriend Jane Fallon produced. Ricky became contributor to the "Eleven O clock Show" and then presented a chat show titled "Meet Ricky Gervais".He recently hosted the 67th Golden Globe awards.
