Mt Baker Snow

If you are looking for some great winter fun, then skiing at Mt. Baker is your best option! Skiing makes for a very relaxing and entertaining vacation, and in my opinion, being active and skiing is much for fun then just lying out on a beach—do nothing! The only problem is, there are some things that will determine your trip. You have to know how to ski, or be willing to learn, it has to be th e perfect weather for skiing, and you have to dress properly!

If you have never been skiing before, do not worry about it. There are many training and instructional classes that are available that will show you how to ski, while making it fun! You can sign up for your ski lessons at Mt. Baker an hour before you desire to start your lessons! This makes it very convenient for you! You can sign up, and then get your equipment, get bundled up, and your lessons will begin!

When skiing, you want to be sure to dress warm. You should dress in warm layers, and try to cover up as much as your body as you can. Have something to cover the top of your head, either a band or a sock hat. You should have a pair of goggles. Do not wear too many layers, as you still need to be able to move and be quite flexible to be able to ski. You should only wear one pair of socks, and you should definitely wear wind and waterproof jacket and pants on the outside layers.

Other than dressing warm, you have to have the proper equipment. At Mt. Baker we allow you to rent equipment because they understand that many families just go for a vacation, but if you plan on making skiing a hobby, I would suggest buying your own equipment. When purchasing or renting equipment you will need: skis, boots, poles, and a helmet. At Mt. Baker you can simply choose a ski package.

Okay, now that you are prepared to go out skiing, one of the most important things to check is the weather condition. You can check the condition of Mt. Baker on our website, or you can look at a snow report. You can also look at recent weather condition pictures!

The weather aspects you want to look for and consider are: the number of inches of new snow, the number of inches of snow at the base, the overall slope conditions, the temperature, the wind speed, the weather forecasts, and the visibility.
